Save Poor Lives, an institution that is dedicated to serving the needy, has already saved many lives within 2 months of its inception in December 2008. With a vision to reach out, Save Poor Lives recently branched off from another foundation called Women's Welfare Syndicate (WWS) that is currently into helping people with surgeries, health related issues, etc. As a co-founding member of WWS, Mr S. Balasubramanian, wanted to widen the scope of work beyond health related issues by providing scholarships to children, offering homes to elders and building schools for children in the near future.
Health being the primary focus, Save Poor Lives (SPL), will constantly take up issues related to health, with the focus being surgeries and post-operative care. Towards this end, SPL will be collecting funds for patients with special needs. However, these patients will not be selected by SPL directly. Instead, hospitals will have to make their recommendations based on a patient's needs and financial difficulties. SPL will then make their assessments to identify the well deserving patients. After this process, advertisements will be made in leading newspapers like The Hindu to raise funds. In addition to this, appeals are sent to regular donors. Funds collected for the project are then consolidated and sent across to hospitals. Surplus funds raised out of the project will be used for post-operative care and other issues.
SPL is currently operating out of Bangalore & Chennai. Some major hospitals in Karnataka & TamilNadu have already extended their support to SPL. Scope of services would include major surgeries and post-operative care. .we have conducted 186 operation until 31/03/2011
Projects in pipeline:
1. Senior Citizen Home: SPL has recently taken this cause to help elders and has a building on a plot (8 grounds) near Tambaram. Admissions will be provided to those who require shelter and well-being. Services will include lodging, food, healthcare, entertainment, etc. This will be open in the month of May 2009.
2. Nursery School: The same place would be used to educate the children in and around the area during the day. A dual mechanism system is aimed at bringing happiness and fulfillment to all the members involved. It will act as a platform for the senior members to impart their knowledge to the young ones and in turn, interacting with the children would bring some hope & meaning to the elders in their twilight years.
3. Donations of other kinds: SPL will be making some donations for marriages to the under privileged in the society. SPL will also be assisting disabled people with accessibility instruments, healthcare and other .
